iPark, New York’s largest family and privately owned parking facilities, has experienced tremendous growth these past years thanks to the dedication and ambition of the Lerner family and its CEO Bill Lerner. With Bill at the helm of operations and overseeing all technological transactions, the company has experienced a rapid expansion, acquiring new locations at a more than healthy pace. iPark is on the path to having nearly 150 locations all while operating privately and within the family – not beholden to a board or shareholders.
“Family is my number one priority in life. Even as a child, I was able to work and spend quality time with my father, Jack Lerner, and see the tremendous amount of work he put in to create iPark, formerly Imperial Systems,” says Bill Lerner, CEO if iPark. “Now, as head of the company, I’m taking a page out of his book and continuing the Lerner legacy by providing parking facilities with premier service, attention to detail and going that extra mile for our customers. We’ve certainly changed with the times, including eco-friendly with charging stations for electric cars installed in several parking facilities, but one thing still stands the test of time – family will always be a constant in our business and I truly believe this is the key to continued success.”
At 17 years old, Jack Lerner assumed control of the family gas station to provide for his mother and siblings after his father had passed away. Jack saw a golden opportunity to utilize the side of the gas station for parked vehicles on Centre Street in 1955. This idea quickly turned into a bonafide success as Imperial Systems continued to grow, providing parking for numerous locations including 371 7 th Avenue, 12 East 13 th Street and other various locales throughout Manhattan. Jack worked tirelessly to cater to New York City’s inhabitants and create parking facilities focused on customer satisfaction. Over 60 years later and now the largest privately owned parking facilities in the state of New York, iPark embodies the American dream employing an impressive 600 employees to date.
With Bill leading the charge, iPark has been rebranded to strengthen its focus on satisfaction. The focus is very aligned to achieving the most customer contentment possible, as opposed to appeasing shareholders only interested in the bottom line. As a successful businessman and leader in the sector, Bill knows parking is an evolving industry on the cusp of embracing technological resources that will carry it through the 21 st century. Future plans for iPark include exciting technological advancements and numerous acquisitions throughout the New York Real Estate, with exciting future prospects all along the Eastern seaboard.
